The psychologists would define such an attitude as sympathy or a sexual attraction towards the handicapped. The people with paraplegia are not considered as burden by the devotees. People with such an ideology are increasing with the passage of time. The time is not far away when the whole humanity will become Wheelchair paraplegic devotee. So in short, the devotee is a person who has admiration for the crippled people. Mostly, it has been observed that this admiration is based on sexual attraction but the sympathy is another important factor that can trigger devotion for the patients of paraplegia.

Therefore, the reason for devotion may vary from person to person. The sympathetic people usually feel sorry for the condition of such patients and understand them by empathy. One can only understand the condition of others when he puts himself in the feet of the person in trouble.

However, the general attitude of people towards the handicapped is apathetic and self-centered. Whatever may happen with the others, we usually do not bother by thinking that what goes of my father if the other person is in trouble! In the United States of America, it is illegal to discriminate an individual on the basis of his disability. It has been observed that some people have developed strong relationships of love with the paraplegics, ignoring their disability and to help them for the rest of their life. On the internet, you can find many communities of people who are devotees and work to help the paraplegics. Anyone can join these networks and share their ideas about the handicapped living in their society. Moreover, these communities and chat rooms are spreading the ideology of devotees to other people, through out the world. Furthermore, some people consider the class of paraplegic devotees as psychologically ill. It is also defined as the extremism of passion and thoughts. However, helping and socially accepting the crippled is not a bad idea. They must be accepted as normal citizens of any society.
